When Dolly Parton made a surprise appearance as a guest star during the first season of Hannah Montana in 2006, it left many viewers astonished to see the country music icon on a show geared towards tweens. However, there was a special connection between her and the show's star, Miley Cyrus.

"I've known her since she was a baby," Parton revealed during an interview with Good Morning America in 2009. "Her father is a friend of mine, and when she was born, he asked me to be her godmother. I gladly accepted. Although we never had an official ceremony, I am incredibly proud of her. I love her like my own."
